Line Sorter

Paste a list of lines and reorder them alphabetically, by length, or shuffle them.

About this tool

Whether you're alphabetizing a contact list, sorting words by length for a design mockup, or just need a randomized order for a giveaway drawing, this tool reorders pasted lines in a few common ways.

How to use it

  1. Paste your list, one item per line.
  2. Choose A–Z, Z–A, sort by length, or shuffle randomly.
  3. Copy the reordered list.

Tips

  • Sorting is case-sensitive by default in most browsers' native comparisons — capital letters may sort before lowercase ones.
  • Shuffle uses your browser's random number generator, so results differ every time you click it.
  • Sort by length is handy for finding the shortest or longest usernames, keywords, or domain names in a list.

FAQ

Does sorting ignore leading spaces?

Leading and trailing whitespace on each line can affect sort order — run the Whitespace Cleaner first if your list has inconsistent spacing.
